Faculty and Staff at NMSU are part of the support team to aid students and alumni in their quest to succeed in their careers. One way you can help is to refer a student to Career Services.
You can request career-related presentations or workshops for your classroom, or student organization. If you are not able to attend your class, don’t cancel class but instead contact Career Services to request a guest speaker. This is a wonderful valued added resource that will continue the learning process even if you are not able to attend your class on a given day.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers(NACE) provides guidance to the recommended practices in the field of Career Services. The support that faculty provide to students is one of the reasons for the student’s successes. To assure that faculty are aware of the Policies and Procedures, as recommended by NACE, please use the NACE Faculty Guide and the NACE Principles of Professional Conduct to aid you in your advising of students for employment.
Finally, if your NMSU department needs to hire students, we can help you post to spread the word and support the development of on-campus work-study, regular student employment, and graduate assistantships. Internships and Cooperative Education opportunities are also available through our office.
